Breadbox Goes Android
Brooksville, Florida, April 3, 2012.
Breadbox Computer Company, LLC, owners of the GEOS operating system, has announced it has successfully enabled Breadbox software to run on several low-cost Android tablet devices.
Frank S. Fischer, CEO of Breadbox stated:
"For the last several months, we have been testing our software, including all of our educational software products, on the Barnes and Noble Nook Color and Nook Tablet devices, which run on the Android operating system. We are very excited with the results of our preliminary testing and we believe we have finally found a way to enable one-to-one computing for the worldwide educational market at a very low cost. We are in the process of testing on other low cost Android devices as well, including the Amazon Kindle Fire. There are still a few issues we need to work out, but our results are very promising and we are confident we will have a complete solution to offer very soon."
Fischer continued "We selected the 7" Nook Color and 7" Nook Tablet devices for our preliminary testing for several reasons. These are solid, high quality Android devices available at attractive retail prices of $169.00 and $249.00, respectively. In addition to fast processors, the devices are very light weight, have a large amount of internal memory and RAM, excellent battery life, an external SD card slot to add additional memory, built-in WiFi, web browser, email and many readily available 3rd party applications."
Breadbox has enabled its' software to act like any other Android application, however, when opening the Breadbox software the user is presented with all of the Breadbox software and educational applications. Switching between Breadbox and Android is a simple one-click process and it is not necessary to shut down the Breadbox software when switching out to Android and switching back into Breadbox.
"We have established any easy and invisible way to transfer files via WiFi, etc. between Android and Breadbox, a key to a robust wireless classroom network environment, where the teacher and students are easily able to transfer files back and forth" added Fischer.
Breadbox has been working on developing an ultra-portable, low-power consuming, low cost, one-to-one educational learning device that utilizes its' unique software for several years. In addition to offering the company's flagship suite of productivity and PIM software included in Breadbox Ensemble, Breadbox has been building a large base of educational software that it plans on offering as well. All of Breadbox educational software provides for easy content creation by both teachers and students and the company believes once its' products begins to saturate the market, more and more content will be created and freely shared in a community of Breadbox educational software users worldwide.
